BRMA website:
The website is the key to the association. We had to find a way to keep all members informed about the association, current issues, and a convenient way for members to contact the board with question, ideas and recommendations. Unlike most road association where most members live on the road year around, our membership is scattered all over the east coast and visit their camp at different times during the year. We see no easy way to hold a physical meeting and get a majority of members at a single location at the same time.
Officers of the Board:
We had Gilbert Salon step up and volunteer to fill the Vice President position until elections . These volunteers on the Board are willing to give up their time in order so we all may have an association that will serve the members and maintain our camp road. Remember …the board works for the members.
Annual dues:
The amount of the yearly dues is determined by the condition of the road, damage done during the winter, erosion due to spring rains and rising cost of gravel and grading plus the cost of insurance for the association.
100% dues per owner regardless the number of lots /parcels owned.
By-laws:
Different association adopt different bylaws. We looked at the bylaws of several associations and referred to online data. The bylaws that have been selected are about as basic as you can get to form a association by state of Maine laws.
Road damage done by members or contractors:
Road Damage by contractors or members can be a problem. If a member hires a contractor and the contractor damages the road the member may be held responsible for the repair of the road. The board recommends that the member informs the contractor about BRMA and to be careful not to damage the road. The Board is working on a bylaw to address this issue.
Speed Limits:
Speed is a problem on the association roads. We need to post Hazzard and speed limit signs to remind owners and visitors to limit their speed and be careful of others using the roads. We have many people walking and riding bikes. This and narrow roads can make it dangerous for everyone. We do not want anyone to get hurt.
